I’m a huge fan of the ‘Universal Monster’ films and to finally see them get the treatment they deserve is a dream come true. Now a-lot of people will have a problem with this as they love the old grainy feeling of the originals, I should know I love them too but with the films being given the overhaul they’ve undergone it might possibly be able to grab the attention of younger viewers who are used to a crisp clean film.
The box set comes with 8 films in total – “Dracula” (1931), “Frankenstein” (1931), “The Mummy” (1932), “The Invisible Man” (1933), “Bride Of Frankenstein” (1935), “The Wolf Man” (1941), “Phantom Of The Opera” (1943) and “Creature From The Black Lagoon” (1954). Each disc is jam packed full of goodies like the bonus features that tell the story of each films creation and history, including behind-the-scenes documentaries, film-maker commentaries, interviews, storyboards, photo galleries, and trailers. Especially appealing for fans are a never before seen featurette about the restoration of “Dracula” and the first ever offering of “Creature From The Black Lagoon” in its restored 3D version. Also there’s a collectible 48-page book featuring behind-the-scenes photographs, original posters, correspondence, and much more. There are only 2 drawbacks to this release, firstly it’s a blu-ray only box-set so if you’re like me and don’t have a blu-ray player then you’re missing out. Secondly is the price – £45/$112 which is a-lot of cash but for what you’re getting I think it’s actually a great price for what you’re getting.

To see the trailer for yourself just click on the video below:

If you enjoy all the Horror stuff I do for SomeWhatNerdy then make sure you like the ‘Raz’s Midnight Macabre’ or even better head to my blog page itself and sign up:

Raz’s Midnight Macabre Facebook page (HERE)

Raz’s Midnight Macabre Blog page (HERE)

Digitally restored from high resolution film elements in perfect high-definition picture and perfect high-definition sound for the first time ever, Universal Classic Monsters: The Essential …

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

1,725
230,928,1182,1183,1184,1185,1186,1187,1188,1189,1190
post-11744","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-blog","category-razs-horror","tag-horror","tag-razs-midnight-macabre","tag-universal-classic-monsters-the-essential-collection","tag-dracula","tag-frankenstein","tag-the-mummy","tag-the-invisible-man","tag-bride-of-frankenstein","tag-the-wolf-man","tag-phantom-of-the-opera","tag-creature-from-the-black-lagoon","latest_post
https://i0.wp.com/somewhatnerdy.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/560738_477737168926467_370649639_n.jpg?fit=502%2C555&ssl=1
["GET
