Who are you and where are you from?

I’m Jessica Lynn Gonzalez and I’m from Miami.

2. How did you discover cosplay?

I was involved in theatre from a very young age so costumes are nothing new to me and I’ve been reading comic books since 1999. It pretty much fell perfectly in place. I studied design and production for film/theatre in undergrad. I was always involved in little independent armor costume projects like medieval, Viking, futuristic; stuff I did just for fun with friends. While in college I started attending local conventions. And even though the conventions were really small, a lot of people dressed up. I thought, “Finally! My people!”

3. I really love your Wonder Woman cosplay. What made you choose her?

Thank you! I’m a war history buff and I’m fascinated by WWII. Captain America is pretty much my favorite. I wanted to do something original and still cosplay a recognizable character. I had been reading Before Watchmen: Minutemen and I really liked the idea of heroes created for WWII propaganda… so that’s really where it all came from. Actually, I’m kind of tired of people thinking it’s steam punk because it’s far from it.

4. Which version of Wonder Woman is your favorite to cosplay?

I like mine because no one else has done it. But, if I were to cosplay her again, I’d love to do a New 52 or Odyssey.

5. What other genres do you cosplay?

I tend to choose badass chicks that I personally love. I don’t stick to marvel or DC or movies, my stuff is all over the spectrum of geekery.

6. What is your favorite way to show off your cosplay?

I love going to conventions in costume. It’s my favorite way to meet new people I would never meet in a normal situation. It’s a great ice-breaker. But, I also love using my Facebook page. Sometimes I make costumes I’ll never wear to a convention so it’s a great way to share those cosplays. I’ve also met some great people on my Facebook from all over the world; other cosplayers, photographers, professionals, and others that just appreciate my work.

7. I have an interview with Adam posting soon. How did you like the experience of being Wonder Woman for Superhero Photography?

He’s unique. He’s got a ton of energy and a great sense of humor which really helps you relax. I shot with him at his booth in New York Comic Con which was open for hundreds of convention goers to stop and stare. I’m not a model by any means, I have intense stage fright and this was the first time I photographed any cosplay. He was really great with helping me forget everyone around us. He’s really hands on and helps you pose.

8. What are your plans for the future?

I don’t think I’ll ever turn to cosplay professionally because animation is my true love, but I’m not stopping cosplay any time soon. I want to continue to bring original ideas to existing characters. My next venture is my futuristic/totalitarian Hawkgirl which I’m pretty psyched about. In 2013, I’ll hopefully be visiting way more conventions in the US, Canada, and the UK

9. Where can my readers see more examples of your work?

I update my facebook the most. www.Facebook.com/JessicaLynnCosplay But I also have my website www.JessicaLynnGonzalez.com and an instagram: Youcanttigatag. Sometimes it gets really hectic, but I try my best to reply to everyone.

10. If you had to pick one cosplay, which one is your favorite?

Probably WWII Wonder Woman…. But my new Hawkgirl is a close second… even though I haven’t finished it yet haha.

Its that time again! Time for another talented cosplayer to share her talents with you, our fellow Nerds. Today’s interview is with the talented and …

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

1,95
2114,369,784,1007,1034
post-13339","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-blog","category-cosplay","tag-cosplay","tag-dc-comics","tag-wonder-woman","tag-derf","tag-interview","latest_post
https://i0.wp.com/somewhatnerdy.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/534707_155314657947141_555707286_n.jpg?fit=660%2C439&ssl=1
["GET
