Today’s focus on Flashback Friday is another classic from DC Comics.\u00a0 The issue I am focusing on is the Justice League of America #128.\u00a0 It was originally published in 1976.\u00a0 For those of you who were not around then, comics were only a quarter a piece.\u00a0 Boy, talk about the good old days, lol.\u00a0 I was two and wasn’t reading comics yet.\u00a0 Jus my luck.\u00a0 Anyway, this is a classic issue for several reasons.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The issue begins with Wonder Woman being reinstated in the JLA just in time for them to disband.\u00a0 Why are they disbanding you ask?\u00a0 Well, it appears that each and everyone of them where shown their deaths if they didn’t stop fighting evil.\u00a0 So, the JLA members decided to disband and leave rather than fight and die.<\/strong><\/p>\n

While the heroes share their stories one at a time, we find Hal Jordan in the fight for his life against Nekron.\u00a0 He manages to send a signal out to the JLA for help and this was the break Wonder Woman needed to convince the others to stay together.\u00a0 A great battle occurs and Nekron flees the scene vowing to return.\u00a0 What happens next?\u00a0 Well, you would need to pick up issue #129 to find out.<\/strong><\/p>\n

What I love most about the classic stories is how the characters are drawn.\u00a0 I mean Nekron looks no where near the way he did in the Blackest Night stories.\u00a0 I know we can explain that from the simple fact that he was a creature of fear so of course he would change forms, but it is still amusing to me.\u00a0 This issue was written by the talented Martin Pashko and drawn by Dick Dillin and Frank McLaughlin.\u00a0 The cover art was done by the late, great Ernie Chua.\u00a0 Although I do not have the complete story, I would give this issue a rating of a strong 8 out of 10.\u00a0 It tells a story of its own and I really do not need issue #127 to tell me what happened before nor do I need #129 to tell me what happens next.\u00a0 The story in issue #128 stands that well alone.\u00a0 Until next time, get your NERD on.<\/strong><\/p>\n
