The Candyman arrives in New Orleans and sets his sights on a young woman whose family was ruined by the immortal killer years before.<\/h3>\n

With the huge success of “Candyman” it was no surprise that we\u00a0got a sequel and as with many sequels it involves the villains backstory.<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

With this sequel we find that Candyman’s real name is\u00a0Daniel Robitaille, he was the\u00a0son of a slave on the Robitaille Plantation in New Orleans. I won’t ruin anymore of the backstory for those who haven’t seen it but I must admit that I’m not a fan of these origins in movies, the saying less is more springs to mind when I think about them, especially when it comes to villains.<\/h3>\n

You see the problem is, is that I feel they take a-lot away from a character instead of adding to it. I like my villains to have some mystique and curiosity about them, which is why I usually enjoy the first films as that’s when we still have that. I’m fine with being told a little backstory but to see it can be different, your mind can come up with so much more than what you actually see.<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I was surprised that “Candyman” director\u00a0Bernard Rose didn’t return as he was so successful with the film, with this film we got\u00a0Bill Condon who, in my opinion, didn’t do as good as Rose but it was good enough for what it was.<\/h3>\n

Once again Tony Todd puts in an amazing performance as Candyman, he encapsulates the character perfectly, he also played the victim role well in the flashback scenes showing us his true range as an actor.\u00a0Kelly Rowan did a good job as our lead lady Annie, my problem with her role though was the whole young blonde victim thing, a sense of\u00a0d\u00e9j\u00e0 vu from the first installment.<\/h3>\n

“Candyman 2 – Farewell To The Flesh” is a decent enough sequel but it’s nowhere near as good as it’s predecessor.<\/h3>\n
