As I sat down to watch the film I actually felt quite anxious with one question running through my mind – “Are we finally gonna get the scary Chucky back?”. As it was a straight to dvd release a few people thought it must be bad, me, I thought it’d actually help it as there was no worry over the box office gross.

Right off the bat you can tell that Mancini has learned his lesson and gone back to the original dark tones of the “Child’s Play” series. The problem is, is that we know that ‘Chucky’ is real and he’s the one causing trouble, plus it takes a long time to know whether this a reboot of the series or a continuation. This is the only bad thing with the film, well that and a few dodgy CGI moments but it’s a small price to pay.

This film finally answers some questions about the background of Charles Lee Ray and it’s fascinating to finally get some insight into his past, plus it’s always great to see Brad Dourif on our screens. According to Dourif, he had to wear a wig and massive amounts of make up to make him look like he did 25 years ago in the original Child’s Play movie. Lighting was also a huge factor.

SPOILER ALERT!!! I repeat – SPOILER ALERT!!! I had a few messages asking me if I knew of Jeniffer Tilly’s role in the film, so here it is – In “Seed Of Chucky,” Jennifer plays two roles. ‘Tiffany’, who is trapped in the soul of a doll, and ‘Jennifer Tilly’. ‘Tilly’ is basically the lookalike of the character of ‘Tiffany’. That’s why ‘Tiffany’ the doll is obsessed with transferring her soul into ‘Jennifer Tilly’s’ body and that’s what she does at the end of that movie. So, ‘Tilly’ basically becomes ‘Tiffany’. She has her Jennifer Tilly body but with the soul of Tiffany inside. I think the confusion comes from the fact that ‘Tiffany’ always looked exactly like ‘Jennifer Tilly’.

“Curse Of Chucky” is a return to form and if it carries on with this the series could continue once again.

Miscellaneous facts about the film:

The actress who plays Nica, Fiona Dourif is the real life daughter of Brad Dourif, who provides the voice of Chucky.

First film in the series to have Charles Lee Ray in it since the original Child’s Play movie.

First film in the series to be a direct-to-video-release.

With a runtime of 97 minutes, it is the longest film in the series.

Don Mancini described this film as his first real horror film as a director, since Seed of Chucky was more of a comedy in his eyes.

‘Brad Dourif’ (the voice of Chucky) recorded all of his lines in less than a day.

Shot in 30 days.

Nica’s older sister Barb’s full name is revealed to be Barbie, (like another famous doll) when Nica is calling to her from the bottom of the stairs.

This movie has several moments that pay homage to the original Child’s Play film one being that when Nica cuts his head off Chucky’s body reassembles himself and he begins to attack again.
