As you already know, we like to interview talent from across the\u00a0entire universe\u00a0of NERDom.\u00a0 Today I am proud to finally present my interview with Patrick Ballesteros<\/span>.\u00a0 Some of you may already recognize his art because we have shared it on our FB page more than once. I first discovered Patrick’s art when I was going through some art on deviantart.com<\/a> and his\u00a0Castle Grade School\u00a0<\/em>piece caught my eye immediately.\u00a0 I knew then that I must interview him and now here we are.\u00a0 So without further delay, here is an artist interview with the great Patrick Ballesteros<\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Who are you and where are you from?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Hi my name is Patrick Ballesteros and I am an illustrator and concept artists in Los Angeles, CA.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>2. I just love your style!\u00a0 When did you discover your art style?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Style is something that develops over time through what you learn as an artist and experience you have had as a person. I think my \u201cstyle\u201d developed about 6 years ago. My friend Eleazar kept pushing me to do a solo show. So around 2008 I did a gallery show in Santa Monica, CA called Sleep Parade <\/i>and after that I just ran with it.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>3. How do you come up with your brilliant ideas?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

A lot of it develops from everyday life, things I see, people I hang out with. Other times I think about my own childhood and how I can relate that to modern day experiences. Again, it is very personal and I try to add that into my storytelling.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

4. What inspired you to do the Castle Grade School piece?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u00a0loved He-Man as a kid, and it just made sense. I had another idea in mind but then I changed it and thought it would be fun to recreate an old school class picture.<\/strong><\/p>\n

6. Do you have anything you would like to promote right now?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a07. Castle Grade School<\/em> is one of my favorites, do you have a favorite<\/span>?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

I always think the last piece is my favorite. I think I have a few pieces coming out next year that will be up there with my top However, if I had to choose one from my current lineup, I would say my horror print Friday Night Frights<\/i>.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>8. What are your plans for the future?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Working on a few of my own projects. More prints, a new sketchbook for 2014, and a possible art book for the end of the year. Right now I am gearing up for Comic Con San Diego in July. It\u2019s still 7 months away but it creeps up fast so I want to be prepared. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
