So I got a couple comments about my last\u00a0Movie Night<\/em>\u00a0post so I’m guessing it’s not a terrible waste of time. True, those comments came from friends but that still counts, damn it! I have an ever growing list of fun and entertaining movies to watch on some lazy day when you have nothing better to do and I was trying to figure out which one to write about next. I turned to my trusty movie collection and skimmed the titles and my eyes feel on one in particular and I knew which one had to be next…<\/p>\n

So I Married An Axe Murderer<\/em> came out in 1993 and I missed it in theaters because I don’t ever remember seeing a preview for it. I even found a preview online before writing this blog and none of them ring a bell. \u00a0Whatever the case may be, I finally watched the movie only after it was out on DVD and I loved it from the very first moment.<\/p>\n

There’s nothing outstanding about\u00a0So I Married An Axe Murderer\u00a0<\/em>but everything it does, it does well. It has an offbeat and funny plot that stays realistic enough to keep the viewer from writing it off as impossible. The characters feel real and more so if you’ve ever lived in or visited San Francisco. And most importantly, it’s funny. If you’re a fan of Mike Myers (not Michael Myers, that would be a different movie) then you’ll enjoy this movie. If you’ve watched Wayne’s World<\/em>\u00a0or\u00a0Austin Powers<\/em> and didn’t like it then first check for a pulse because I’m not sure if you have one and secondly, don’t watch\u00a0So I Married An Axe Murderer<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Mike Myers plays two characters in this one, Charlie and Charlie’s dad Stuart, which was new for him at the time but is now expected. He plays the roles well but they were written in a way that catered to his comedy stile so it didn’t feel like there was too much of a challenge. Nancy Travis (Last Man Standing, Duckman)<\/em> and Amanda Plummer (Pulp Fiction<\/em> and Hunger Games: Catching Fire<\/em>) played their parts well and I wish I could mention a few things I enjoyed about their performances but they could be viewed as spoilers.\u00a0Even though the ending wasn’t too hard to guess, it was still fun to see it all unfold so I wouldn’t want to take that away from you.<\/p>\n

So I Married An Axe Murderer<\/em> is a movie that I watch at least once a year, if not more. It’s not good enough to make it on my top 10 list, but it’s good enough to enjoy over and over again. It’s a movie I can quote with my friends and they’ll know what movie I’m talking about right away. \u00a0 Even though I’ve seen it more times than I can count, I still catch something I didn’t notice each and every time. This last time I caught a line uttered by Stuart that caught me off guard and got one of those “louder than it probably should have been” laughs. \u00a0The movie is funny, charming, sweet, sexy, tense, and as I’ve already said, fun. If you haven’t seen\u00a0So I Married An Axe Murderer<\/em> yet then please give it watch. Heck, buy it. It’s only about nine dollars on Amazon and Fifteen if you buy it full price. Either way, it’s worth it. \u00a0If you have seen it already, then watch it again! You know want to.<\/p>\n
