Well folks, there you have it. The entire \u201cThe Stepfather\u201d franchise review.<\/h3>\n

I’ve really enjoyed looking back over this franchise.<\/h3>\n

The character of ‘Jerry Blake’ and his other pseudonyms is loosely based on the story of John List, the New Jersey man who killed his family in 1971, and was on the run until he was captured in 1989. Knowing this just makes the story more frightening, it also \u00a0brings a realm of reality to it.<\/h3>\n

The original first draft of the script for “The Stepfather” featured flashbacks that explained how ‘Jerry Blake’ became a killer by showing that he was abused as a kid. I’m glad this wasn’t done as it would’ve weakened the character and story, he was crazy for crazy’s sake and that was terrifying.<\/h3>\n

Let’s be honest here, O’Quinn made this series, once he was gone it just didn’t work and it shows that “Stepfather 3” was a TV movie then there was no more made until \u00a0the remake was done. The first two films are a great watch the first is easily the best, the second feature is just having fun with it all and as a fan that was enjoyable.<\/h3>\n

The remake did nothing for me at all, as was obvious by my review of it. Apparently\u00a0Terry O’Quinn was offered a cameo role in the film but he turned it down and I don’t blame him one bit. He is a seriously under-rated actor that seems to get great parts but in my opinion never really gets the recognition he deserves.<\/h3>\n

Watch the first two “Stepfather” films and leave it there, you won’t miss anything and you’ll save yourselves sometime.<\/h3>\n
