Circus, werewolves, freaks, oh this film had me already.<\/h4>\n

After enjoying the last couple of films as much as I did I have to confess that my expectations had started to rise again, not to the point where I was expecting a mega blockbuster surprise but enough that another run of the mill werewolf film would not cut it for me, by now I was expecting something a bit more different.<\/h4>\n

Well I can certainly say that with this release I got more than I had initially bargained for. When I read the films synopsis I was admittedly a bit excited to watch this, I have a real fondness for films that have a carnival\/circus style setting, but I found that I seriously enjoyed the film because of the way it was wrote.<\/h4>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The story for the film was seriously interesting and I thoroughly enjoyed the way the werewolf character was portrayed here, instead of seeing the big bad wolf (no pun intended) once again, this time we get to see a more vulnerable, kind and caring character and it was seriously refreshing as a viewer to watch.<\/h4>\n

Now of course the film has to have a villain but for those of you who’ve never watched this before and plan on doing so I won’t spoil it for you, though I will say I found the villain to be really enjoyable as were the rest of the cast actually and the acting itself wasn’t too shabby, a bit hammy for sure but still pretty good.<\/h4>\n

I’ve actually decided that “Howling VI: The Freaks” is my favourite of the sequels, sure it’s quirky and seriously low budget but it’s so damn entertaining and has a depth to it that you wouldn’t expect to see by film number six.<\/h4>\n

Miscellaneous facts about the film:<\/h4>\n

Harker was named after Jonathan Harker, from “Dracula”.<\/h4>\n

Mary Lou from the previous sequel The Rebirth has a brief, non-speaking cameo as a circus audience member in the beginning of the film.<\/h4>\n

Despite the fact that this film states “Based on the novels ‘The Howling I, II, and III’ written by Gary Brandner”, this film is in no way based on any of those novels, and is a sequel to the earlier Howling films in name only.<\/h4>\n

Is the only Howling film between IV and VII that Clive Turner was not involved in.<\/h4>\n
