As we last left Wolverine and Sue Storm in issue #7, Wolverine had just killed Hank Pym to try to prevent this whole Ultron mess from happening. When they returned to their appropriate timeline, they noticed that Ultron is no longer a problem, but the Earth was ravished by battles including the Kree and Skrull war as well as constant battles with Morgan Le Fey.
In this “new” timeline, Tony Stark is more machine than man. He is the leader of the Defenders, Earth’s last chance of survival. Along with the Defenders he has a security task force armed with Stark technology. He is sure that this Wolverine and Sue Storm are imposters planted by the witch Morgan Le Fey. He cannot process what his scans as well as Emma Frost’s mind probes are telling him. It doesn’t make sense. Sue is dead and Wolverine is a member of his Defenders. It has to be a trap by Le Fey.
During the interrogation of the two “time travelers”, Tony told his Defenders to stand down but thing wanted nothing of it. He wanted to see Sue and Wolverine wanted to get up close and personal with himself. During the attempted “jail break” their station was attacked. Who has the nerve to attack, why none other than Morgan Le Fey herself. Iron Man confronts her of her plans which of course she has no idea what he is babbling about. She stops Tony midsentence to allow him to watch the destruction of his base and witness all the deaths of the innocents aboard.
What will happen next? Only Brian Michael Bendis knows right now, but we will know soon enough. I proudly give this issue a perfect 10 out of 10 rating. I am almost sad that this storyline must end. It has been a real good read. That’s all for now, stay NERDy my friends.
