Imagine a world where humanity has lost and machine has won.  Imagine a world where even the heroes are hunted because they are human, this is the world Ultron built.  In Age of Ultron, Marvel gives us a what if reality, that is, what if Ultron won his battles against the Avengers and became the Emperor of Earth?  That is exactly what you get in this series.

Book One starts with a not so recognizable New York as Hawkeye risks his life to save one of his fellow Avengers. What makes this task hard you ask?      Well, for starters there is a vicious gang led by the Owl and Hammerhead for starters.  Not to mention the constant threat of being detected from above.  What lingers above?  Only an army of Ultrons, but I am getting ahead of myself.

Anyway, Hawkeye breaks though Hammerhead’s thugs and finds who he was looking for.  As soon as he tries to free his teammate, they are ambushed by the Owl as well as Hammerhead.  There is also another problem that is challenging for both parties, the Ultron Patrol.  We find out how merciless as well as violent Ultron can be through the use of his army.  Hawkeye and his fellow Avenger barely escape with their lives.

Hawkeye and company, go to the Avengers rendezvous point only to be ambushed by their teammates to make sure they are who they say they are.  When all pans out, Hawkeye is forced to justify his actions.  His decision is not a popular one, but he knows he did what was right, and that is all that counts for him.  The fellow Avengers they claim they have a plan to counter the Ultron threat, but their leader doesn’t look so positive.

Who did Hawkeye save?  Who is this “defeated” leader of the Avengers?  Who are the surviving Avengers?  Will Ultron win?  To answer these questions you need to check out Age of Ultron: Book One for yourself.  You need to hurry, because Book Two is already on the shelf, but that is a review for another day.

I love Marvel alternate reality stories so I am really enjoying this series.  I give this title a perfect rating of 10 out of 10.  I cannot wait to see where this book will take us and how it will end.  Get yours today!
