An Interview with Tatto

It may be Tuesday but in my mind it is Tattosday. Why? Because I have a great interview with a great cosplayer for you today. Her name is Skye but you may know her by her cosplay name Tatto. She is very talented and I am thankful that she took the time in her schedule to do this interview with me. I think her cosplays are outstanding and I know you will to.

1. Who are you and where are you from?

I’m Skye!! Born in raised in Southern California and I LOVE CATS

2. How did you discover cosplay?

I saw someone dressed up as Haruhara Haruko from FLCL and I realized that was a thing I could do. I, too, could be my beautiful pink haired anime wife.

3. I really love your Jinx (League of Legends) cosplay. How did you come up with that concept?

There aren’t too many super flat, super skinny, & super spooky characters around so I felt kinda obligated to be her. My buddy who made my props was also REALLY ACHING to make a shark bazooka so it all lined up pretty perfectly.

4. Have you ever cosplayed comic book characters?

Nope! Maybe some day. I’m bigger into anime & video games than comics.

5. What genres do you cosplay? Do you have a favorite genre?

I don’t think I really have a favorite genre but I do have some favorite studios, directors, & character types, though I don’t always stick to any one type of character. The bulk of my cosplays are from GAINAX anime!!

6. What is your favorite way to debut a new cosplay?

Usually at con. That’s when I’ll finally have the entire outfit on with the wig & makeup, so I’ll upload a sweet selfie & head out to the con center!

7. What other hobbies do you have besides cosplay?

I used to draw A LOT in my spare time, but lately I’ve been so busy with cosplay & school that I don’t have a lot of extra time for other hobbies!! I enjoy video games but I spend more time watching other people play them than I spend playing them myself. Is “watching Netflix” considered a hobby nowadays???

8. What are your plans for the future?

GET A JOB
I don’t plan on quitting cosplay any time soon, & it’d be sweet if something cool comes out of me making wacky costumes & getting into clown makeup, but I’m on the job hunt for now!! I’m hoping within the next couple years I can settle down & work on some of my dream cosplays & really test my skills with the stuff I’ve been aching to make for a while.

10. If you had to pick one cosplay, which one is your favorite?

My latest favorite is my big Angel-XX Sahaquiel outfit that I made. I kicked ass on the construction & I feel super cute in it!! But another favorite of mine is Lupin the Third. He’s so much fun to run around in.
