A love/hate relationship between a mother and daughter turns into a tale of horror when the daughter moves out and into her first apartment.

It’s no secret that the paranormal is a big trend right now, films filled with ghosts are being churned out at faster than you have time to watch them. Which brings me too “Apartment 1303 3D”, which  isn’t just another ghost story film, it’s also another American remake of an original Japanese film of the same name (apart from the 3D). Now if you’ve ever watched the original Japanese versions of “The Ring” (“Ringu”), “The Grudge” (Ju-on: The Grudge) and “Dark Water” then you’ve probably noticed that the remakes never seem to be able to match them, in my opinion the originals are far superior and create an atmosphere that can’t be recreated.

I have a few problems with this film but my big problem is it seems to have taken the same route as the other remakes and seems very familiar to what they tried to do in the past. Another is the casting, I have never been a fan of Mischa Barton, her performances always seem so wooden and forced but thankfully she isn’t playing the main role . Now I know the English speaking versions have been great commercial success stories so I can understand the reasoning to support the film. I love the original and do hope the remake does it justice, truth is the trailer doesn’t fill me with much hope.
