I cannot get enough of this series!  I love the writing of Bendis and Mack and how they successfully made a modern day mystery novel out of a great comic character.  Daredevil: End of Days continues to be a hit with readers from around the globe.  The fact that the word “Mapone” is still a mystery is a great success in writing by Bendis and Mack.

In issue #5, Ben is in prison questioning a man from Matt’s past who may know what “Mapone” means.  That man, in case you missed it, is Frank Castle aka the Punisher. Ben’s instincts are correct, Frank does know what “Mapone” means, but he is not telling. While Ben is in prison, there is a fire which causes the interview to end and allows the Punisher to escape.  With that connection gone, Ben goes to another costumed person form the Daredevil’s past.

This time, the person from Matt’s past was known as the Gladiator.  Today, Melvin Potter is a successful businessman who owns a costume shop that sale realistic hero/villain costumes.  Ben asks him about the Elektra outfit from when Bullseye committed suicide. Melvin acknowledges that the costume was his.  Ben also asks him about his dealings with Matt.  It turns out that Matt ordered a DD costume that was a little smaller than he was.  What was the purpose?  Well, then Ben remembers something that Frank told him.  Maybe Daredevil was training a replacement for when he was gone.  But does all this have to do with “Mapone”?  Ben needed to find out.

Ben gets another lead from Daredevil’s past, this time it is the psycho-killer known simply as Bushwacker.  He is in a hospital, clinging to life.  Ben begins to ask question not knowing if Bushwacker is conscious or not when a familiar face comes running towards him.  Who is this familiar face?  What happens to Ben or the Bushwacker?  Well, you will have to get the issue to see.

Issue # 5 gets another 15 out of 10 rating from me.  Knowing this is issue #5 out of 8 makes me sad because I do not want the story to end.  Do yourself a favor and get your copy today.  This is a must read for all comic and mystery fans!
