Fresh from the Throne of Atlantis story arc comes the next team of heroes known as the JLA or the Justice League of America. These heroes are the Earth’s only defense from another tragedy like the uprising of Atlantis or if a member of the original Justice League turns to the “Dark Side” if you will. The government has placed Director Waller and Colonel Trevor with the task of putting together a new league that could rival the original team in case a breach of security was to occur again.
The government no longer trusts its heroes and wants to keep them under surveillance. Of course the team will not think this of the new JLA nor will the JLA think anything of the Justice League as being a threat. In issue #1 we find Waller and Trevor putting a team together. This team consists of Star Girl, Vibe, Hawkman, Martian Manhunter, Catwoman, Katana, a Green Lantern, and the Green Arrow. As it stands, Green Arrow is more of an Intel agent than a field agent, at least for now.
Issue #2 finds the team meeting for the first time. But something lurks in the shadows; a secret society is forming to take “care” of the Earth’s heroes. What kind of “doom” will these villains bring to the table? Who knows? I guess we will just have to keep reading to find out. Issue #2 also lets us see the team in action for the first time and they are stopped by what appears to be the original trinity of the league. Why would Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman want to stop the JLA from finding this secret society? I guess we will find out in issue #3.
The team of Johns and Finch is a hit in my book! I am a big fan of the writing styles of Geoff Johns and everyone knows that I am a huge David Finch fan. Another thing I love about this title is the humor. Issue #1 quotes Star Wars, which I totally loved and the first meeting of Vibe and Hawkman was priceless! I give this title a perfect rating of 10 out of 10. I cannot wait to see what comes next!
