Well, here we are, the last film in the original franchise, it was supposed to be a film that was out with the old and in with the new.

The film’s beginning finally concludes the storyline between Laurie & Michael and Michael returns home to find his house has been taken over by a group of kids on a reality show.

The film had exciting prospects, but in reality it just fell flat on it’s face. You can see what they tried to do, with bringing Michael into modern society with all its technology. With a group of college students lurking around his house with cameras, investigating the infamous home for an internet reality show.

The highest point of the film (Apart from the beginning) is when we discover Michaels lair, the place he’s been lurking around, biding his time. But this film had a seriously awful casting choice! Busta Rhymes is such a bad actor it makes me cringe, same with Tyra Banks. Also out of all 6 college kids there only seem to be a couple with proper acting skills.

This was supposed to be the film that launched Michael into scaring a whole new generation, It didn’t and it fell flat on it’s face. easily one of the worst films of the franchise.

It was sad to see a franchise with such great promise fall so flat towards the end, sort of like a TV series that went on one too many seasons.

The only reason I’d suggest you watch this film is to see the conclusion of the story of Laurie & Michael, after that you can just switch it off.

Miscellaneous facts about the film:

Was first named “Halloween: The Homecoming” but producers wanted a title that said Michael Myers is alive so in February 2002, the film was officially named “Halloween: Resurrection.”

Was originally set for a release date of September 21st 2001, but producers at Dimension Films wanted the film to be stronger so re-shoots took place from September to October 2001.

Director Rick Rosenthal previously directed Halloween ll – 21 years earlier.

Katee Sackhoff originally was supposed to portray Donna Chang

The name Jen Danzig is a reference to Glenn Danzig, the singer of the former Misfits leader whom wrote and sung the songs Halloween and Halloween II before the original movie was released. The two songs have little to do with the movies since their lyrics do not even touch the main plot.

Tyra Banks’s character’s death was cut. You can still see the aftermath in the movie.

Producers considered Danielle Harris who played Jamie Lloyd in Halloween 4 & 5 for a role in Halloween: Resurrection.

Michael Myers is not given credit for any of the murders that occur in Halloweens’ 4, 5, or 6. A sanitarium resident even notes that Myers was not heard from for the twenty years between the events that occur in Halloween ll and Halloween H20: 20 Years Later.

Bianca Kajlich cannot scream and her screams had to be dubbed in post production.

In the first scene at the college, Sara Moyer (Bianca Kajlich) is shown twirling her hair, much like Laurie Strode  does in the class room scene in the original Halloween.

Jamie Lee Curtis agreed to do her part, only to make sure her character, Laurie Stode (or herself) wouldn’t appear in another sequel.

The name of the psychology professor at Haddenfield University is Dr. Mixter. This was also name of the doctor in Halloween ll that treated Laurie Strode and was killed by Michael Myers with a needle in the eye.

Three endings were shot regarding the fate of Freddie Harris (Busta Rhymes).

Several new endings were written during production and the cast was never sure how the film was actually going to end. Four different endings were filmed, and the director wanted the studio to ship a different ending to each theater, a technique used before during the theatrical release of Clue. However, the studio disagreed and the endings now appear on the DVD and the Internet.

At the start of the film, an asylum inmate recounts how Michael Myers had stayed out of sight for “these three years”, i.e. since Halloween H20: 20 Years Later. This places the events of that scene in 2001 – the first year to have a full moon occur on Halloween since 1945.

Originally, the executives of Miramax wanted to continue the franchise by creating a whole new story of which didn’t have anything to do with Michael Myers after the last film, in a similar manner to Halloween lll (Season Of The Witch). However, poll results conducted throughout fan websites proved the producers that fans wanted Michael Myers to return again.

This is the second Halloween film to make any sort of reference as to what exactly Michael Myers eats. In the original ‘Halloween’, when Sheriff Brackett and Dr Loomis enter the Myers house, they see something on the floor, which turns out to be the corpse of a dog. Dr Loomis simply says “He got hungry.”
