Chucky, the doll possessed by a serial killer, discovers the perfect mate to kill and revive into the body of another doll.

7 years after the last “Child’s Play” film we finally got the next entry in the franchise.

It may have been 7 years since the previous film but this film is set one month after the events of the previous film. We get introduced to ‘Tiffany’, a former girlfriend and follower of ‘Charles Lee Ray’. Introducing this character really helped evolved a story that if we’re honest, was becoming stale, and no one could have played it better than Jennifer Tilly.

Now if ‘Chucky’ was getting comical towards the third film then this film seriously ramped it up, for some it worked for others it turned them off the film. For me I found it hilarious, after three films of watching a killer doll ‘Chucky’ was now less scary, more one liners. This happens with a-lot of franchises, just look at ‘Freddy Kreuger’ for example.

One thing I love about this film is the little things that have been put in for the Horror fans watching it, it’s just little things but they’re a great addition, such as in the opening scene where Michael Myers’ and Jason’s masks, Leatherface’s chain saw and Freddy Kreuger’s glove  are visible. Also in the opening shot, when the policeman is walking through the evidence locker room, several dolls appear. These are from the movie series “Puppet Master”.

Also visible in the evidence room is “The Crate” from the movie “Creepshow”. We also have a character in the film named ‘Damien Baylock’. For you trivia lovers, In “The Omen”, the child is called ‘Damien’, while his evil nanny is called ‘Mrs. Baylock’.  (SPOILER ALERT!) But my favourite has to be when John Ritter’s character is killed and his face looks like ‘Pinhead’, Chucky exclaims “Why Does That Look So Familliar?”

“Bride Of Chucky” is a fun film, for many it’s their favourite of the series. For me, I love watching it and it’s highly entertaining.

Miscellaneous facts about the film:

When Jennifer Tilly is dancing for Chucky, there is a brief appearence of the top of one of her nipples. This is revealed in the DVD commentary by Jennifer herself.

According to Jennifer Tilly, the doll sex scene was all improvised.

The date on Tiffany’s newspaper clippings at the beginning of the movie and the date of death on Charles Lee Ray’s tombstone is 9 November 1988, the release date of the first Child’s Play movie.

Julia Stiles got the part of Jade, but later dropped out to play a role in “10 Things I Hate About You”

A certain Bride of Chucky promotional poster is a parody of one of the Scream 2 posters.

When Chucky decides to kill Chief Kincaid, he first picks up a ball-peen hammer, only to put it down when Tiffany remarks, “Predictable.” In the original Child’s Play, Chucky kills his first victim by hitting her in the head with a ball-peen hammer and sending her flying out a window.

According to the DVD’s director commentary, Chucky was originally supposed to say to Chief Warren (John Ritter), “Sorry, Jack, but three’s a crowd,” after killing him. This joke refers to the fact that Ritter also starred as “Jack” in the hit TV sitcom Three’s Company. But at the last minute, the director deleted that out of the script because he found it too corny.
