Well folks, there you have it. The entire “Candyman” series review.

It’s been a-lot of fun looking over this franchise.

Looking back over it it’s easy to see why “Candyman” became a firm favourite amongst Horror fans, he’s such a fantastic villain and Tony Todd is the perfect actor to play him. It’s no coincidence that over 20 years later it’s a film that’s still loved and favourably talked about by Horror fans.

Also we can’t not talk about Clive Barker,  the first two films are based around stories he wrote (“Candyman” was based on The Forbidden”). Apart from “Hellraiser” I consider this one of his best adaptations.

If we’re honest though it’s not the greatest of series, the first film was amazing but it was all downhill from there, the second film wasn’t awful but it was nowhere near as good as it’s predecessor. Plus the fact that all 3 lead females were blondes just gives you a big sense of déjà vu, I know it’s only hair colour but things like that are highly noticeable and a little irritating.

There has been rumours of a “Candyman 4” or a “Candyman” remake, honestly I don’t want either. The big rumour of the remake was that the “Candyman” character would be white, now I know in the story “The Forbidden” he’s white and it’s also set in England but Tony Todd played the role so well it’s hard to think of anyone else playing that role (remember when Jackie Earle Haley replaced Robert Englund as ‘Freddy’).

“Candyman”, as I said not the greates franchise but the first film more than makes up for it, if you skip the other 2 you’re not missing out on much.
