A group of people on a worldwide search for oddities find themselves trapped in a nine hundred year old Italian castle when they accidentally unleash the Demonic Toys.
It only took 18 years but “Demonic Toys” finally got an official sequel.
Well mostly anyway, it’s a sequel to both “Demonic Toys” and “Hideous!”. But don’t let that bother you, this is still a film about killer dolls on a rampage. John Buechler, who designed the dolls for this film, discredited himself from the film and has since criticized the design of the dolls. I do get where he’s coming from but to me, they still look badass.
You have to remember that this is a a b-movie series, the budgets are lower so when viewers pick over the smallest things like the dolls looking different or that “meh” logic I get frustrated. If this was a bigger budget production then fair enough but it’s not so you need to stop such criticisms.
Writer and director William Butler is someone I have a-lot of respect for in this business, he’s done it all and in my opinion was the perfect choice. He captures the spirit of the film and manages to keep the charm that we all fell for in the previous features, which is an aspect that is usually lost in sequels.
My only problem with this film is the lack of dolls, only three of them are featured in this sequel but they’re used very well. The cast also do a good job, it must be hard to act alongside an inanimate object, I know I couldn’t do it so kudos to them!
“Demonic Toys 2” is a fun sequel, give it a try!
