Well folks, there you have it. The entire “I Spit On Your Grave” franchise review.

It’s been lots fun looking back over this franchise.

As enjoyable as it’s been looking over this controversial franchise it has also been quite strange talking about how I enjoyed a film that centres around a taboo subject – rape. I know the subject matter of the film makes a-lot of people uncomfortable but now the film series is being embraced, especially by women.

When the first film was released in 1978 British feminist Julie Bindel actively picketed the film when it was first released in the UK. She later recanted that view, stating that she now considered it “a feminist film”. It’s a view that seems to have become more popular over the years. I know a few women who call the films ‘the ultimate break-up film’.

The 1978 release was followed by the unofficial sequel “Savage Vengeance” in which Camille Keaton (under the alias of Vickie Kehl for unknown reasons) reprises the role of Jennifer. The film barely went for 65 minutes and received extremely negative reviews. The film was unofficially remade in 1985 as “Naked Vengeance”, where Deborah Tranelli plays ‘Carla Harris’, who moves to her parents’ house after her husband’s death, and is then harassed, hounded, and raped by some of the town’s scum.

News has been released recently that the official sequel “I Spit On Your Grave: Deja Vu”, directed by original director Meir Zarchi, was finished in October 2015 with Camille Keaton reprising her role as ‘Jennifer Hills’. I’m really excited to see how it turns out and what the original pairing have to offer us all these years later.

“I Spit On Your Grave” is not the the weak stomached but if you can cope with it then it can be real entertaining.
