Well folks, there you have it. The entire “Re-Animator” series review.
I really enjoyed looking back over this series, it was a-lot of fun.
For many years there have been rumours of a fourth instalment, Stuart Gordon has been quoted on several occasions as expressing a desire to make a fourth instalment entitled “House Of Re-Animator”. The film would, he claims, be a political satire wherein West moves into the White House and re-animates the deceased Vice President. However, the project was supposedly cancelled. The idea may not be totally dead as is hinted at in the final issue of the Hack/Slash vs. Re-Animator crossover where government agents approach West claiming his country needs him because the president is dead.
Yes that’s right there’s a “Re-Animator” comic series which I highly recommend you read if you can find it, it’s very humorous and carries on the Herbert West story in great fashion. There’s also “Re-Animator: The Musical” which has won many awards.
I’ve always wondered what H.P. Lovecraft would think of the films, seeing as it’s partially based on his work. I’ve always wondered things like this when it comes to films being based on the works of writers who are no longer with us.
Ofcourse I can’t not talk about our star Jeffrey Combs who is just simply amazing! He’s an actor I feel has not had the success he deserves, yes he’s loved in the Horror genre but the guy is so talented he deserved to be a huge star. Sadly this happens with a-lot of actors in our genre but atleast we get to see them carry on doing the work we enjoy see them doing. I actually did a post on Jeffrey Combs which can be read HERE.
The franchise is a fun one and like most films doesn’t take itself too seriously, personally I’d love to see a fourth film made but I’m happy with what we got.
Also "Isle of Re-Animator" was mentioned somewhere by Brian Yuzna as a 4th installment. Not sure if that was superceded by House of Re-Animator or vice-versa. Either way, we won't hold our breath ;) I think it's more likely to see Phantasm V at this point. In other words, never.
