Return to the Class of Nuke ‘Em High follows a young couple that are up against the school glee club. Unfortunately, the glee club has mutated into a gang called The Cretins.

After 9 years we saw Troma return to one of it’s biggest successes.

After “Class Of Nuke ‘Em High 3” I must admit that I, along with lots of other fans, was feeling a bit apprehensive. Luckily for us all we had nothing to be nervous about, Troma really pulled out all the stops here and really went for it.

The first thing that really shocked me was that Stan Lee was narrator for this film, I just didn’t think this would be his sort of thing. We also have a cameo from the iconic Lemmy (I’m a huge fan), a moment that made my day was seeing Toxie turn up for a cameo.

The feature throws everything at us with it’s lunacy, the crazy here is truly in full swing and it brings back the entertainment value like never before. We also see ‘The Cretins’ return and I initially didn’t know what to think about that but it worked out really well.

With this film we saw Troma founder Lloyd Kaufman and he certainly did an outstanding job, my only disappointment is that he used a little too much CGI in favour of the usual practical effects as they are a staple in the series and when used they really do pop.

“Return To Nuke ‘Em High Volume 1” is a return to form and I can’t wait for Volume 2!

Miscellaneous facts about the film:

The person who recommended splitting up the movie into two volumes to Lloyd Kaufman was Quentin Tarantino. Lloyd liked the idea. It made sense because there was a huge amount of footage and the movie would be over 3 hours long if it wasn’t split up into two parts.

There was a special secret screening of the film at the Cannes Film Festival in France on May 16, 2013.

The first public screening of the film took place at Troma’s own Tromadance Film Festival in Asbury Park, New Jersey at Asbury Lanes on Saturday, April 13, 2013. The fest and film were free to to the public.

The majority of the film was filmed in the closed down Niagara Falls High School in Niagara Falls, NY. The steps on the grand staircase in front of the school were broken down and the actors had to watch their steps while they acted on the steps to stay away from injuries.

The actor who played Father O’Houlihan (Brian Cheverie) Graduated from the school used in the movie (Niagara Falls High- old building) class of 1974. He is also the same actor that played Father O’Houlihan in Troma’s Poultrygeist.

The on location headquarters and for this film was the long closed down Magadino funeral parlor, once run by the notorious Mafia Don, Stafano Magadino. The interior party shots were filmed in one of the basement rooms of the parlor while the exterior shots were of an abandoned house on a nearby side street.

The star of the film Vito Trigo and it’s Producer Justin Martell made many movies together before Return To Nuke ‘Em High including MR. BRICKS which is also released by Troma.
