Capture

While traveling, an unhappy married couple encounter a cult of murderous children.

Well it was bound to happen sooner or later, a remake of the original feature.

If you hate to hear someone complain about remakes then stop reading now….. Okay, now there gone I can get on with it. Not only is this a remake, it’s a made for TV remake. I can’t put into words the disappointment I had upon finding out this was a rehash of the beloved original, yes the 1984 version hasn’t aged well but that’s part of it’s charm for film fans these days.

This feature is a serious mess, we once again have a couple in crisis yet there performance of it is terrible, not helped at all by some serious bad editing. One minute they’re arguing like they want to kill each other (overacting) and the next there loving, the wife is especially irritating. When you compare this to the original couple it shows you the huge difference between them in, especially in quality.

The rest of the cast for this film is terrible, in the ’84 version the character of ‘Isaac’ is still considered to be one of the creepiest kids in film, the kid portraying ‘Isaac’ is terrible and looks more like a child playing dress up with his older brothers clothes spouting lines from a board behind the camera. Same goes for “Malachai”, he maybe Ginger but that’s all the connection there is between the two.

This film has some serious problems and no quality to it at all, this was confirmed to me during the stand off scene between the wife and “Malachai”, what should have been a truly tense moment was seriously deflated by old Mexican stand off music being played over it, this had me burst out laughing. Like I said, no redeeming qualities at all.

“Children Of The Corn” is best avoided and I don’t say that often. It is a truly awful film and not a ‘so bad it’s good’ it’s a real waste of time and film, you have been warned!
