Die Hard. It’s Die Hard.
I mean come on. We can’t have a Christmas movie list without Die Hard. It’s sin. I know, it’s also a big-ass poster. But I wanted it to look goooood.
But I digress. Let me go over the list once again just in case you’re joining us at the last possible minute. If you are, welcome. You have a lot of movies to watch.
- Planes, Trains, and Automobiles
- Gremlins
- A Christmas Story
- Krampus
- Office Christmas Party
- Scrooged
- Fred Claus
- Jingle All The Way
- The Nightmare Before Christmas
- The Santa Claus
The “is Die Hard a Christmas movie” debate is one that’s been going on for decades between two groups of people. It rages between people who know Die Hard is one of the greatest Christmas movies of all time, and those who are stupid idiots.
But all that aside, this a great movie that just happens to take place during Christmas so for decades now, like minded people watch this during the holidays because it’s become a tradition. This movie isn’t full of the Christmas spirit though and I was considering putting it higher up on the list, but I just couldn’t. This is one of the movies I watch on Christmas every year. The other film I make sure to watch is tomorrow’s film, but today had to be Die Hard.
This is more than just a movie. It’s a film that’s quoted in every day life. It’s a movie that can be identified by the location alone. Just saying Nakatomi Plaza makes everyone’s imagination run wild. This a movie that can be identified by multiple quotes. Everything from Yippie Ki Yay Mother *$#&@!, to:
Look! He’s wearing a Santa hat! This is Christmas AF!
Die Hard is the greatest action movie to come out of the 80’s. It’s one of the best action movies of all time and it’s a movie I watch multiple times a year. I routinely put movies or TV on in the background but this is NEVER one I pick for that because I will stop what I’m doing each and every time and watch it all the way through.
I don’t have much more to say. I don’t need to talk about the plot because if you don’t know it then there’s no hope for you. Same goes for me listing the main actors. I can’t go on and on about how this movie is full of the Christmas spirit because it’s not. It’s just a great movie that just happens to take place during the holiday. Will I put this film on future 12 Flicks of Christmas lists? Yes. Yes I will. Die Hard is a staple of the holidays just because movie nerds and pop culture came together to make it so. Die Hard is a Christmas movie and everyone knows it. Go home at the end of your day. Take your shoes off, makes fists with your feet, walk around on the carpet and watch this movie. I’ll see you tomorrow.
